Search Engine Optimization
In order for your website to be seen, you need search engine optimization incorporated into your web site design. There are many factors involved in order to make sure that your web site is visible on the internet. Your web site needs search engines, like Google and Yahoo, to find your business and any updated pages quickly. This is key to keeping your information, and what you have to sell, easy to find. Keywords are one of the ways that search engines make this happen, but there are many more. In the last year it has come to light that Google does not even consider keywords as important as they once did, relying more on quality of content. As a web designer, this is one of the many tasks that will be implemented to make sure that your website is there for everyone see. SEO is an on-going task. Anyone who tells you they can have you in the top 10 in a month is not telling you the truth.
SEO results take a some time to see. There are no shortcuts. Any search engine algorithms are secret and no one has the upper hand. Shoddy back-links and all the keywording in the world are not going to replace good content. Poor quality links can get you black-listed or land you on the last page of search results.
Search engines are gearing more towards quality content and good coding practices. Poor quality content and poor coding will stop search engine spiders from crawling your site. So keep all of this in mind when you are putting your content together. I will make sure the good coding part is taken care of.
Web Site Branding
One of the first things I will need in designing your site will be what is called branding. Business cards and stationery all have branding. This is the colors and any logo that you use to make your business unique. What do you look for when you are on a road trip and want to stop at McDonald's. I know I look for the red sign with the big M on it.
Content
Another item we will talk about is what you want inside your website. Every page has to have some kind of content in it. Content is King. Are you selling merchandise online? You will want pictures of the items you have to sell and good descriptions. I also do photography and image modification. Do you want articles pertaining to your business or merchandise that you sell to have links to other relevant articles?
Everything you want in your website needs to be on a list. Think about it. Write it all down. Don't do it in the spur of the moment. Then contact me and I will send you my web questionnaire.
